Michigan Crossroads Council Presents:
Campsites & Creatures
Outing For Scouting VI

The Outing for Scouting is a unique camping adventure with a new and exciting program to all of our Scouts regardless of age. The event will feature a competition of traditional scouting skills with the addition of assorted activities and exhibitions centered around the theme of a Fantasy Renaissance Fair. Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venture Scouts, Leaders, and parents will all find something exciting to do at this event.

Friday we are partnering with a local game shop to play and do introductions to Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons and possibly other tabletop games.  We will also have a roving scout museum there for display and the camp store will be open.

Saturday is the main event.  Scout skill stations and exhibitions where participation can earn you gold to spend at the Ye Olde Prize Shoppe.  At the Shoppe you will find small batch keg root beer from Northwoods in Traverse City, various treats and fun trinkets.  Spend your gold on items individually or pool your gold and bid on some mystery bags.

Skill stations will include Fire, Orienteering, Pioneering, First Aid, Archery, and an Obstacle Course.  The better you do, the more gold you earn.  Each skill station will have information on what scout skills are being used/taught so they can applied to advancement.

Exhibitions include outside re-enactors to demonstrate medieval/Renaissance life.  We hope to have a blacksmith or two, candle making, copper crafting, leather working, chain mail making, and a glass bead maker.  We hope to have wandering minstrels and the tying of a Maypole at lunch.

Lunch on Saturday will be provided.

Saturday night we will have a firebowl.  Each troop is encouraged to come with two skit or song ideas, one of which will be performed.
