NRA Rifle & Shotgun INSTRUCTOR Course (Camp Rotary)
PARTICIPANTS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE COMPLETED THE BASIC RIFLE AND/OR SHOTGUN SHOOTING CLASSES PRIOR TO TAKING THESE TRAININGS! PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A CURRENT NRA BASIC INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (BIT) WITHIN THE LAST 90 DAYS - BIT WILL OCCUR ON FRIDAY EVENING FOR THOSE THAT REQUIRE IT.

REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 16 PARTICIPANTS!
These courses are open to any registered Scouter over the age of 18. Students may choose to attend one or both training courses. Lodging will be available beginning at 3:30pm on Friday afternoon with the BIT occuring from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. The weekend will conclude with the Rifle Class running until 6:00pm on Sunday. Registered participants will be provided Cracker Barrel on Friday; Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, & a Cracker Barrel on Saturday; and Breakfast & Lunch on Sunday.
Participants are responsible for bringing:
- Bedding
- Notebook
- Pen / Pencil
Please DO NOT bring any personal firearms or ammunition. All shooting supplies will be provided as part of the course.
Basic Instructor Training - BIT (Friday) 5:00pm - 9:00pm:
NRA Basic Instructor Training is designed to develop NRA Certified Instructors who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct the NRA Basic Firearm Training Courses. It is the NRA class that helps people who already have subject matter expertise learn how to hold a class the NRA way so that their students earn recognized NRA certification.
This course teaches you the policies and procedures for becoming an NRA instructor as well as effective teaching methods for training students. Basic Instructor Training is a pre-requisite for all instructor level courses.
Shotgun Instructor (Saturday) 8:00am - 8:00pm:
This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Shotgun Shooting Course.
Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Shotgun Instructor Candidate Packet, and NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course student packet.
Rifle Instructor (Sunday) 8:00am - 6:00pm:
This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Rifle Shooting course.
Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.
Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination.
