2025 Lost in the Boonies - Spring Camp O Ree (Pontiac Manito)

2025 Spring Camp-O-Ree: Lost In The Boonies
CAN YOU SURVIVE THE EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS OF THE BOONIES?
It starts with a hike - then begins the real challenge. Up to 5 competition-grade orienteering courses that will take your Troop/Crew/Patrol through the muddy trails of Highland Recreation Area (NEW LOCATION) with all the RAIN, SNOW, FOG you've come to expect FROM THE BOONIES!
Presented in partnership with the Southern Michigan Orienteering Club (SMOC), this event brings actual competition-grade courses designed to challenge the Scouts in their skills. These courses qualify the Scout toward Rank requirements as well as Orienteering Merit Badge if they are already working with a counselor.
Friday Evening join the Order of the Arrow for field games and a Root Beer Float Fellowship, followed up by the Opening Campfire!
The Order of the Arrow will also be performing a Call-Out Ceremony and Brotherhood Ceremony during this event.
Overnight Camping is available both Friday and Saturday Nights. The event officially ends on Saturday at 6:00 pm but if units want to camp on Saturday night they are more than welcome. However, there will not be any program provided after this point - Park fees and SMOC course fees are included in the registration fees.
Cubs of all ages are invited to participate in the event on Saturday day-only, and will take part in the same hike as the Scouts. Then a special event is planned for Cubs of all ranks to work on Scouting skills and Rank Adventures, with take-home crafts for everyone!
Scouts should remember to bring a compass with them, as supplies are limited. We recommend this one:

SMOC Waiver
The Southern Michigan Orienteering Club requires a waiver for all participants. The Online version can be found here:

If you fill out the online version, you can add multiple names to a single form, so you can submit per team/patrol.
NOTE: The DNR Recreational Vehicle Passport is required for park entrance and will be available for purchase at the event for $19 and covers park entrance for all Michigan State Parks for the entire year. If this was purchased with your annual vehicle registration, this is not required.
