Ice Fishing Extravaganza - Scenic Trails

Event Details

IMPORTANT UPDATE
Due to the weather conditions the last few days our location is not safe for fishing. With many of our registrants coming from outside areas the committee has reviewed new locations and determined that Lake Cadillac is the most central and safest location to move the event instead of cancelling. The city has granted us access to use the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion. Below is an ice report from the local bait shop. There is a parking lot South of the pavilion. If that lot is full there is free city parking areas near the pavilion with a short walk to the pavilion.
Things to consider or know:
•    You may want to stop by Pilgrims Village and pick up some wax works, spikes, or perch minnows. We will have a small amount of bait but encourage everyone to come prepared the best they can.
•    We will not be providing a lunch. Please bring a sack lunch or snacks for your adventure.
•    The event is designed as an open event. Check-in will be located at the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion as early as 9:00 AM. Come and go as your group so chooses.
•    Please come with or complete on site parts A & B of the BSA Health and Medical Record, we will have copies on site to fill out if needed.
•    We have enough supplies for 40 Scouts to make their own fishing pole. At registration each Scout will receive a bag with their pole kit and other information given to us by the DNR.
•    Youth - Use the ruler provided to record the size of your catch and share with the team at the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion for entry into the large fish contest. Prizes will be awarded at Noon & 3:00 PM.
•    Dress for the weather.
•    There will be some people at the event to educate Scouts on fisheries, fishing information, and ice safety, all taking place under the Rotary Performing Arts Pavilion.

ICE REPORT: Lake Mitchell & Cadillac 2/16/2023
“Even after the warm temps and rain we're still about the same as last week. Top couple of inches are a little honeycombed but everything is dry on top, no standing water. Be mindful of expansion cracks, especially where water was draining through them, sometimes they become undercut. Everybody have a safe and happy weekend.” Pilgrims Village Fishing Shop
