The event will consist of a variety of aviation centric activities including aviation maintenance experiences (riveting, wiring, aircraft construction), and games designed to teach Scouts about flying like a preflight instruction & contest, practice radio calls in a virtual traffic pattern, Foam Plate Glider (FPG-9) contest, weight and balance station, and museum tours. Static displays will be invited from civil, military and homeland security organizations.

Campground is on airport property, municipal water is available on site, porta-Johns will be rented including at least two handicap access units. Staff will come from Venturing Crew 7, Troop 7G, Troop 959, U.S. Military and Department of Homeland Security, volunteers from the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Wurtsmith Air Museum.

A campfire will be held on Saturday evening.  Units should bring an aviation related song, skit or story to share.”  Contributions should not exceed 3 minutes.

Units must be able to move water from the tap to their campsite up to 200' away.

Cubs are invited as day visitors and may stay for the campfire. All attendees pay $10, must register prior to 9 August 2023, and must pre-coordinate any Scouts or Venturers desiring Young Eagle flights at registration and by submitting an EAA permission slip signed by a parent or guardian (POA). The Great Sunrise Side Paper Airplane Contest - During the Camporee, Scouts may elect to participate in ‘The Great Sunrise Side Paper Airplane Contest.’  Scouts wishing to do this should practice designing paper aircraft folded from an 8.5 by 11 inch piece of paper.  The goal is to attain the greatest straight line distance when the paper airplane is thrown.  Designs will be folded on site from paper provided at the contest.
