GSR Wilderness Survival Weekend

Event Details

Join the Gerber Scout Reservation Merit Badge Counselors for a weekend of Wilderness Survival & Fun!

Fort Clatsop will be your headquarters while you complete your Wilderness Survival Merit Badge. We’ll work on book work on Friday night before bedding down for the night at Fort Clatsop.  Saturday will be all about learning skills and building the shelter you will be sleeping in that night. Our instructor is a wilderness survival expert so this weekend will be an experience you will carry for your whole Scouting life! This is a popular event that sells out every year, so be sure to register soon!

Everyone should plan to check in at the Gerber Scout Reservation Trading Post on Friday night between 5pm and 7pm.  Please be sure to bring your Health Forms to check-in!  They will be collected and returned at pick up. Plan to have dinner before you arrive. Classes will start at 7pm on Friday, so please plan accordingly and let us know if you expect to arrive after 7pm.

Participants will be released on Sunday after breakfast is finished and the campsite is cleaned.  Parents can plan to meet them back at the Trading Post by 9:30am.

We have 3 options for meals & housing.  You may select different levels for different people in the same group:

Full Service (Adults Only) = Sleep in a cabin, 4 Meals and 2 Cracker Barrels provided by our excellent kitchen staff & merit badge class

Classic Package = Bring you tent & join us on the group campsite, 4 Meals and 2 Cracker Barrels provided by our excellent kitchen staff & merit badge class

Merit Badge Only = Your unit reserves their own accommodation directly through Gerber (both cabins & campsites are currently available) and provides all of their own meals.  Participants join the group for merit badge instruction Friday night & Saturday.  Your instructor will let you know if scouts should build their shelter with the group or at their campsite.

Event Registration closes on Oct. 2nd or when full .... Whichever comes first!
