Join the ultimate Scouting adventure of exploring the beautiful backcountry of the Boy Scouts of America’s High Adventures base, Philmont. This premier adventure will have Scouts and Scouters trekking the bases 214 square miles of New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo mountains wilderness. Scouts will have the opportunity to take part in numerous adventures at the camps that they will be spending the night. There are 8 youth and 4 adult slots available for this 10 day expedition.

Scouts will leave Grand Rapids on July 28 taking the Amtrak to Chicago where they will explore downtown Chicago and the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). They will then depart later that afternoon on the Southwest Chief bound for Raton, NM where they will arrive on July 29 at Philmont. Scouts will then embark on their backcountry experience on July 29. Scouts will get off trail on August 9 and be back in Grand Rapids on August 11. The price includes a shirt, access to the Willis Tower, train ticket, bussing, and all trail food. Food while traveling to and from Philmont will be taken care of by each participant on their own.
