STEM - Sailing Splash!/Wade! Nova

Event Details

Set Sail on the Appledore IV, an 85 foot tall schooner while fulfilling the requirements for the Novas Splash! (for Scouts) and Wade! (for Venturers)

Saturday June 8th - Bay City, Michigan

We will explore how water affects our lives every day by looking at aquatic ecosystems, learning about water processes, and examining the importance of water treatment. In the meantime, we will be sailing down the Saginaw River and into Lake Huron, and also learn a bit about the schooner!

Due to size constraints, admission is limited to 35 youth.

Date: Saturday June 8th 2019 - 9:00-12:30pm

Location: The Appledore IV is docked at:

107 5th St. Bay City, Michigan 48708

Fee: EARLY BIRD: $45 per Scout/Venturer; $50 after May 8th

Dress Code: Class B Uniform, Closed-toed shoes (sneakers)

Pre-requisite: Scouts may complete requirements 1-2 of the Splash!/Wade! Award prior to or after the event. This event will help complete requirements 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

*Check out the tracking sheet for the Splash!/Wade! awards, as some requirements will not be met at this event.  They may be done before this event, or after. Scouts will be given a NOVA tracking card, indicating the activities they complete at this event, for their Unit Advancement/STEM Chair.

Because only a limited number of participants will fit on the Apledore IV, we ask that this is a drop-off event. However, if there are still open spots as we near the event, we will open registration for parents to sail along at the participant rate.
