2017 National Scout Jamboree
Registration Process and Tips

Overview: The only place where you can apply to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree is at the home of the Summit on the Web: www.bsajamboree.org. Interested applicants can apply to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree as a youth participant, adult leader, or volunteer staff. Conditions apply for each of these categories. Please refer to the website above for the latest details. This document is intended to provide you with instructions to guide the application process. Any questions you have about the application process can be directed to 2017.Jamboree@scouting.org

Prerequisites: The following conditions must be met for you to be eligible to apply:

1. The standard conditions identified for each application, found on the website and referenced above for youth and staff, and included in the President Ford Field Service Council position descriptions for adult leaders. An example of one such condition is that all applicants must be currently registered with the BSA.

2. The applicant must have access to the website: http://www.summitbsa.org/events/jamboree/jamboree-registration .

3. The applicant must have a My.Scouting username and password.

If the applicant does not have a My.Scouting account, an account can be created during the registration process. The applicant can also go to My.Scouting.org and follow the directions to create an account, then register for the Jamboree.

From the jamboree website-***If under 13 years of age, you will need to go to www.myscouting.org to create your account.  Please be aware, that when you create a new account on www.myscouting.org, it takes 30 minutes to sync the data with the system. This means you will have to wait 30 minutes before completing your Jamboree application. —Jamboree Website

Additional information from the Jamboree website :

A. The My.Scouting account needs to be in the name of the person attending the Jamboree, not the parent/guardian that is completing the application for a youth participant.

B. The My.Scouting account you use should also be linked to your current BSA membership number.  Please contact your membership card or scout leader for your membership number.

C. The membership number that you linked to your Jamboree application will be linked to the entire process, including your BSA Health & Medical Record.

4. All applicants must have a current, non - expired, BSA membership.

5. Use Chrome, Firefox or IE 10 or above to access the Jamboree application. Other browsers may not be compatible with this system.

6. Any application candidates younger than 18 years old at the time of applying are required to have parental approval. Parents are required to complete items 2 through 4 as well in order to then approve a youth registrant.

Applying: Once the prerequisites have been met, the application candidate can select the “New  Registrations Start Here” button found at the bottom of the registration page (http://www.summitbsa.org/events/jamboree/jamboree-registration/).

1. Applicants will log into their My.scouting account. After logging in, the scout will see a summary page of their BSA information such as, name, address, BSA#. The scout will need to confirm their age at the time of the Jamboree and the associated BSA organization.

2. The second page all application candidates will see provides an additional welcome. This page requires you to choose the application type that the candidate is interesting in accessing to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree, including: Boy Scout, Venture, Adult Leader, Youth Staff, Adult Staff etc.

3. The next three pages shown are the application itself. Although most are common, the questions associated with each of the applications vary due to the particular requirements of each. Therefore, if child and parent are both applying to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree, they will be seeing different questions. The required fields on each application are clearly marked with a red asterisk. It is recommended that the applicant save their information regularly. The applicant will be allowed to save their incomplete application information in order to return at a later date. But only fully completed applications, that is an application where all required questions have been answered, will be allowed to be submitted. If you attempt to submit an incomplete application, you will receive an error message stating its incomplete state, and the missing questions will be highlighted.

4. You may return to your application at any time by once again selecting the “Edit An Existing Reservation” link, which will take you to your Application once an application has been started.  The registration code received when first submitting the application will be needed.

5. Note for Applicants Who Are Minors: As stated above, all minors are required to have parental approval for applying to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree.  Note for Youth Applicants: Upon submission of your completed application, you will be required to submit a deposit of $276 to the President Ford Field Service Council. A deposit to President Ford Field Service Council is a mandatory requirement for your application to be considered after submitting a completed Jamboree application on the Jamboree website

Note for Volunteer Staff Applicants:

Upon submission of your completed application, you will be routed to a payment screen. A deposit of $150 to National BSA is a mandatory requirement for your application to be considered fully submitted. For Staff Volunteers-no payments are to be made to the President Ford FSC-only those who are members of the Council Jamboree Contingent as participants or leaders are required to make payments to the local Field Service Council.

Post Application:

The following notes are relevant once your application has been submitted:

1. Upon successful completion and submission of your application, you will be routed to your Application Dashboard. As mentioned above, you can return to your Dashboard at any time when you have an open application by selecting the “Apply Now” link.

2. Your Dashboard will provide your latest status and the next steps to be completed. This is the best location for you to manage or track your application process. Please note that upon completion, your status will remain as “Pending Review” as your application navigates the proper approval channels. We appreciate your patience in this regard.

3. Your Dashboard will also allow you to update any questions on your application, as appropriate (for example, you might have grown taller!). You will also be able to update your picture from your Dashboard.

4. In the summer of 2016, you (or your parent/guardian, if you are a minor) will be required to provide additional information about your required medical examination and required trainings. We appreciate your interest in the 2017 National Scout Jamboree. We hope to see you there!

All funds are non-refundable but may be transferred to another participant who replaces a cancellation.  Additionally, application requires that the Scouts or Adults abide by the specific policies of the Jamboree and failure of any participant to adhere to those policies will serve as grounds to have their participation revoked (with no refund).
