Nottawa Trails Klondike

This will be a one day fun event on Saturday Feb. 17th, 2024 designed for patrols of 6 to 8 Scouts.
9:00am – 9:30am Arrival and Registration
9:30am – 10:00am Opening and Flags
10:00am – 12:00pm Morning Stations
12:00pm – 1:00pm Lunch: Each patrol to supply own food and stoves if needed
1:00pm – 2:00pm Afternoon Stations
2:30pm – 3:30pm Klondike Sled Race
4:00pm – 5:00pm Awards; Flag Retreat; and departure
Scout skills and team building stations:
1. Team Building: To Be determined
2. Compass work: Will be given bearings to follow a predetermined course.
Scout will need to know Pace length or Step length.
3. Fire Building: Type to be determined.
4. Lashing: Create some kind of pioneering gadget or structure
5. First Aid Scenario: Patrol will demonstrate the proper 1st aid for the victim.
6. Team Building: To Be Determined
7. Knots: Some type of Knot tying skill that will use the following
Knots: Taught line hitch; Two Half hitch; Sheet bend; Clove hitch; Bowline
8. First Aid Scenario: Patrol will demonstrate types of first aid
9. Sled Race: Timed over a marked course. One sled leave every minute or two. ¼ to ½ mile long.
- A list of items for each patrol’s sled will be sent to leaders who register as we close in on the date
- Sleds will be permitted to have wheels if there is no snow.
- Depending on troop participation, each troop will be expected to supply at least one adult for judging/scoring at stations. There will be at least 8 stations, 2 judges for each station.
