NLS / DYLC 2021
National Leadership Seminar (NLS) and Developing Youth Leaders Conference (DYLC)
The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend training program focusing on leadership development. Run by the Region Chief and his Advisers, NLS provides an in-depth look at leadership skills and techniques and how these skills can be applied in your role in the OA and in other aspects of your life.
The Developing Youth Leadership Conference (DYLC) will deepen an adviser’s capacity to develop youth leadership within the lodge and chapter. Conference topics include fostering a growth mindset, promoting resilience, providing constructive feedback that leads to changes in youth behavior and creating a life-long coaching/mentoring relationship. Conference participants will gain insights necessary to successfully coach youth applying the leadership skills they gained during NLS.
The next NLS & DYLC program is offered:
- Faholo Christian Conference Center
3000 Mt. Hope, Grass Lake, MI 49240
- Starts: Friday, October 15, 2021 at 8:00 pm
- Ends: Sunday, October 17, 2021 at 1:00 pm
As one Arrowman described his NLS experience:
"I just returned from one of the greatest leadership courses around. The NLS course is a winner!”
"I didn't even get out of the room after the second or third session before I was putting the new knowledge to use. The use of movie clips to drive home points of leadership works well!”
"The Staff for the training was excellent. We were privileged to have our National Vice-Chief, the Region Chief, and several Section Chiefs and various members of the National OA Committee. A great staff.”
"Well, I have now been given more useful tools to use to help the Arrowmen in my Council improve themselves and the Lodge. I feel a little less nervous about my own position.”
The total fee for this national training is $215 / person. However, our OA lodge, Mishigami, is offering a scholarship of $150 making your cost $65.00. Pay $65.00 and receive a $215 training event! A great deal!
A Full Class A uniform is required to attend the event (i.e. scout uniform shirt, shorts & socks, pants, OA sash, new lodge flap and council strip).
