STEM Adventure at Maker Faire 2018! (Dearborn)
This is the 3rd largest Maker Faire in the USA and the ultimate STEM Adventure! Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue for these “makers” to show hobbies, experiments and projects. Come learn from inventors, hackers and designers that will help you think differently.
Our Maker Faire STEM Adventure promises to be out biggest STEM event yet with activities for scouts to earn NOVA Awards and other fun activities for scouts, siblings and adults. Of course, participation in the STEM Adventure also gives you full all-day access to Maker Faire at a reduced group rate!
- We will have NOVA Counselors on hand both days to help your Scout earn Tech Talk! for Cub Scouts/Webelos, Start Your Engines! and/or Whoosh! for Boy Scouts, and Power Up! and/or Hang On! for Venturers.
- We have a special scavenger hunt that will be provided to assist you in discovering what Maker Faire has to offer.
- We will be offering for the first time at Maker Faire a "learn to solder" station. Here you will be able to "make" a limited edition Boy Scouts of America and/or NOVA neckerchief slide that "blinks!"
We will be behind Lovett Hall (follow the signs) all day from 9:30 to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. How much time you spend with us is up to you.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS
This event isn’t possible without volunteer help. We have specific needs for:
NOVA Counselors: Must be a registered NOVA Counselor with the BSA.
Solder Station Volunteers: Anyone that has experience soldering that can monitor and teach others to solder.
Event Support: Help with checking, crowd control, volunteer support, etc.
If you are older scouts (16+), a parent, family member, and just an interested adult, please join our Maker Faire team. We encourage all participating scouting units to have at least one adult volunteer for a 3-hour shift. When registering please pick your preferred volunteer time and a volunteer coordinator will follow-up to confirm times and assignments. Volunteers are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their assigned slot for registration and instruction. Please note that all adults need to complete Youth Protection Training.
Volunteer Perk: Volunteers providing at least 3 hours of service will get a FREE admission to Maker Faire for both days, t-shirt and blinkie!
