BALOO/IOLS Training hosted by Mahican District
Adult Leader Training
BALOO – Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (Cub Scouts)
This is a no cost event (part of BSA/MCC Registration Fee)
This overnight training introduces parents and leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct outdoor Pack activities, particularly camping. Cub Scouting has designed BALOO training, so youth, along with their parents or another adult, can participate in a successful overnight camping experience. Note - All Packs are required to have at least one BALOO trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event - including Pack Camping and Webelos/AOL Den overnighter.
IOLS – Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (Scouts BSA)
This overnight training builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position Specific Training and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth in the outdoors. This hands-on training gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led Troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Note – IOLS is a required training course for Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters in Scouts BSA Troops.
This is a free training event. However, we do purchase food and supplies based upon your registration. Please keep this in mind when you register and do not attend.
Please see the attached Equipment List file for required supplies/equipment for either class. Participants must bring a current Annual Health and Medical Record-Parts A and B only.
