MIC 2020 and WSJ 2019 Open House

Event Details

No Registration Needed

2020 Michigan International Camporee and 2019 World Scout Jamboree Open House

Where: Rota-Kiwan Scout Reservation, 6278 Texas Drive, Kalamazoo, the site of MIC 2020

When: Sunday, November 12, 2017, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

This will be an informal event where youth and adults may arrive at any time.  It will be located at the Cub Scout Dining Hall at Rota-Kiwan with the MIC 2020 presentation at one end and the presentation on the MCC contingent to the 2019 WSJ at the other end.  There will be Scouters there with WSJ and MIC experience to talk with Scouts, Venturers, and leaders as you arrive.  Videos will be played about once every 10 minutes. There will be a close-out sale on MIC 2016 merchandise.  For those interested in MIC 2020 and not familiar with Rota-Kiwan, there will be camp tours leaving every 15 or 20 minutes.

2019 WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE - Transportation arrangements and fees for all BSA contingent troops and crews to the 2019 World Scout Jamboree are being determined by national BSA and will be announced soon.  Youth participants must be 14 and not yet 18 years old on July 21, 2019.  Anyone who will be older than 18 may apply to be a contingent leader or jamboree staff member.

2020 MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL CAMPOREE - Michigan troops and crews that participate in MIC 2020 will serve as MIC “host units.” For host units, MIC 2020 will be a two-week experience.  The first week, they will host. international contingent(s) of Scouts and leaders in their homes.  The second week, contingents from all the MIC 2020 host units and the international contingents they are hosting will camp together at Rota-Kiwan in a week of international fun, friendship, and fellowship.  At the kickoff, you will learn about how this works from leaders of host units at past MICs.  The MIC camp fee is typically similar to the MCC Boy Scout resident camp fee.

MCC volunteers who have never been involved with MIC are encouraged to attend, learn about MIC 2020, and consider becoming part of the MIC all-volunteer staff.  We are especially looking for individuals who are qualified and might be interested in filling key MIC 2020 Leadership and Administration positions.  For those with tight schedules, there are several positions that do not require spending MIC week in camp.

If this kickoff does not fit your schedule, similar events will be scheduled to take place on later dates elsewhere.
