Wood Badge 100th Anniversary Celebration

Event Details

MCC Wood Badge 100th Anniversary Celebration - Sunday, September 15, 2019 - Silver Trails Scout Reservation)

Wood Badge is Scouting's premier training course. It's the ultimate leadership training experience designed to meet the leadership needs for all Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout, and Venturing leaders as well as council and district leaders and Scouting professionals.

Lord Baden-Powell originally designed it so that Scouters could learn, in as practical a way possible, the skills and methods of Scouting. It is first and foremost, learning by doing.

Wood Badge has evolved into the core leadership skills training course for the BSA. The Wood Badge course focuses on strengthening every volunteer's ability to work with and lead groups of youth and adults and is less focused on outdoor skills, which are more effectively addressed in other courses.

This celebration will be a day event, so no camping is required to attend.  The program will include, team building/gathering activities, an opening flag ceremony, a Wood Badge campfire, fellowship, reaffirmation of the principles of Wood Badge, a Wood Badge feast and dessert, Patrol Pictures, and the singing of “Back to Gilwell” by all attending.

Since there are Wood Badge participants from several FSC courses who have finished their tickets and not yet received their beads, a Beading Ceremony will be a part of the campfire program.

A 100th Anniversary Commemorative Patch Set will be available.  The patch set has a center Wood Badge 100th Anniversary commemorative patch and is surrounded a Wood Badge CSP from each of the four Field Service Councils and one for MCC.  This set is optional and will be a cost in addition to the event.  Sale of patches is designed to be a fundraiser for the advanced training scholarship funds in each FSC with the proceeds being divided equally between the four Field Service Councils for their use in offering advanced training scholarships to Scouters in their FSCs.

COST:  The cost is $19.19.

*Note- If paying by credit card you will incur a 2.75% convenience charge at checkout that will be added to your fee each time you make a payment.  If you pay using electronic check, you will NOT pay this fee.
