MAKWA: Short and Long Term Backpacking Training

MAKWA
SHORT & LONG TERM BACKPACKING TRAINING
MAKWA is a newer training offered by the President Ford Field Service Council to help
expand adults and youth knowledge on short and long term trek experiences. This
is a great opportunity for those Scouters who have high adventure in their sights,
primarily, if they intend to travel to Philmont, Summit, Northern Tier, or even a trek to
a Northern Michigan adventure like Isle Royal. This training helps people gain valuable
knowledge and experience from local experts in the industry. Our partnership continues
to grow with local outdoor stores, trail associations, and outdoor groups. We provide
participants with training in many areas like proper backpack packing, feet/clothing
systems, backcountry first aid, menu planning, leave no trace, trek planning, land
navigation, water purification, camp setup, and camping experiences.
