Join us on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at 6 pm through Sunday, May 4th, 2025, at 12pm for a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course and a Leave No Trace Level 1 Skills Course to be held at D-A Scout Ranch, 880 E. Sutton Road, Metamora, MI 48455.

Take your outdoor ethics awareness and skills to the next level by becoming a certified Leave No Trace Instructor or completing the Leave No Trace Skills Course (fulfilling one of the requirements for the National Outdoor Medal Award).

These two 16-hour courses will delve into the science of Leave No Trace, the skills and ethics of the 7 Principles, activities and games for engaging a wide variety of audiences, and how to utilize the full BSA Outdoor Ethics program to strengthen your own or your unit or district's outdoor program.

Which course should I register for?

Level 1 Skills course is for youth/adult ages 14 and up. No presentation by student is required on one of the seven principles of Leave No Trace. Once completed this training fulfills the requirement for the prestigious National Medal for Outdoor Achievement that Scouts can earn.

Level 1 Instructor Trainer Course: Per recent changes from Leave No Trace, this is an adult only (18 and older) course with a maximum of 12 participants. Each participant will prepare and present a short (10-15 minute) activity and lesson on one pre-assigned Leave No Trace principal. After completion of the course the participants will be registered with the Leave No Trace Center as Level 1 Instructor Trainers which includes a membership for six months.

Cost for the course? Instructor Course: $80.00 Skills Course: $70.00

Registration closes Friday, April 18th, 2025, Presentation assignments will be emailed out with other important information about the course after registration closes to all participants for those registered for the Instructor course. Skills course participants will also receive an email with important information but will not include an LNT principal assignment.
