Leader Position-Specific Training (Waterford Twp)

Event Details

Cub Scout Position-Specific Training

*Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Den Leaders

No Den Leader wants to let down the Cub Scouts in their den (a group of 8-10 Cub Scouts that’s part of a larger Cub Scout group called a “pack”). Wouldn’t it be great if you could have fun and know what you’re doing? You can, if you get trained! Den Leader-Specific Training will give you an introduction to everything you need to know about being a Den Leader, from planning meetings with fun activities to helping Scouts earn their next rank advancement and more.

*Cubmasters and Assistant Cubmasters

You’ve taken on the role of Cubmaster or Assistant Cubmaster; thank you! It’s a big responsibility but you’re not in it alone – all of your Den Leaders and your Pack Committee wants to help you be successful and run a fun program for all the Cub Scouts in your pack. The best way to start is to get trained with the basic information you need to know about how to plan a monthly pack meeting, what activities your pack may want to do over the next year, and more.

*Pack Committee and Committee Chair

Running a Cub Scout Pack is a little like running a business: there’s a budget and a calendar, there’s money coming in (fundraising and dues), there’s money going out (activities, equipment purchases, registration fees), there’s a “workforce” (your fellow adult volunteers), and there are goals and evaluation of whether you reached those goals. And, of course, you’re doing all this within the unique context of Scouting with some special rules and requirements. Why would you try and do all this without some kind of training?

Scouts BSA Position-Specific Training

*Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster

This course provides Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters with the basic information and tools they need to lead successful Scouts BSA Troops (although, when done right, your youth will lead the troop and you’ll supervise and mentor). Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters who complete this course, Hazardous Weather, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, and Youth Protection Training are considered “trained” for their position.

*Troop Committee and Committee Chair

This course is designed for Scouts BSA Troop committees (the troop committee is a group of adults led by the Committee Chair who handles the “business side” of running a Scouts BSA Troop).

Chartered Organization Representative Training

In this course you will learn what a charter is, the types of Scouting units and programs the BSA offers, the role of the COR, various BSA standards of membership and leadership, indemnification, and Youth Protection and other required leader training.
