Our group will set sail from the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club at 11:00 AM sharp, traveling by powerboat(s) south on Lake St. Clair to the Detroit River and cruising past Belle Isle and the Detroit skyline. We then will circle back to Bayview Yacht Club for lunch. Following a brief meeting, fellow eagle scout Gary Marowske, chairman of the State of Michigan Harbor Commission, will present an overview of the recreational harbors in Michigan. We will arrive back at the GPYC in mid to late afternoon.
Bayview Yacht Club is a private, members-only club, located across from the northern tip of Belle Isle. It is considered to be one of the three premier sailing racing yacht clubs on the Great Lakes, the other two being the Chicago Yacht Club and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Toronto. We will be ordering from the menu and you will be responsible for paying for your own lunch.
This cruise will be limited to the first 36 to sign up. If you “miss the boat” or for other reasons should wish to travel by car, you may join the group at BYC around noon, but please let us know in advance so your name can be placed on the list for lunch and for entry into the club.
