Cub Scout Leader Position-Specific Training (Madison Heights + Zoom)

Three (3) Trainings All in One Place

 

  • Tiger/Wolf/Bear/Webelos Den/Asst. Den Leader Position-Specific Training
  • Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster Position-Specific Training
  • Cub Scout Pack Committee Challenge
  • Interested Parents welcome too!

Hybrid - Zoom AND in-person available, will be simulcast with a projector screen and webcam.

In-person location will be at Madison Heights Civic Center Park, 300 W 13 Mile Rd, Madison Heights, MI 48071, OUTDOOR pavilion C, behind the fire department. Please dress appropriately for the weather. If low temperatures or inclement weather are forecasted by Friday, we'll go full Zoom only.

Zoom link will be emailed to all registered adults when it's available. 

Den leaders:
You have volunteered to play an important role, but one that is simple and fun. This training will help you prepare fun and meaningful den meetings.

Learn:

  • The roles and responsibilities of the den leaders, Cubmasters, and the Committee
  • How to keep scouts active before a Cub Scouting event
  • The aims of scouting and how Cub Scouing helps fulfill these goals
  • How to prepare for a Den Meeting
  • The importance of a pack budget
  • How advancement works
  • The behavior patterns of Cub Scout age youth and methods for improving behavior
  • The role of a den in the pack meeting
  • The outdoor program and its value to Cub Scouts, and outdoor training opportunities available for Cub Scout den leaders

Cubmasters:
You have volunteered to play an important role, but one that is simple and fun. This training will help you prepare fun and meaningful pack meetings.

Learn:

  • The roles and responsibilities of the den leaders, Cubmasters, and the Committee
  • How to work with the Committee, District and Council to plan and operate your program, and leverage resources available to you
  • How to lead monthly pack meetings with the help of others, involving all dens in some sort of way
  • How to delegate responsibilities to get more parents involved, and make the operation of a pack meeting easier
  • Contacting your local Scouts BSA Troop to arrange for den chiefs, and help guide your Webelos scouts to crossover
  • Getting the most out of District Roundtable

Pack Committee:

This training will help you with your crucial role to handle the backend operations of your pack, and ensure your pack remains successful.

Learn:

  • How to run a pack committee meeting
  • The roles and responsibilities of the den leaders, Cubmasters, and the Committee
  • The roles of the Unit Key 3
  • Fiscal policies, the role of the Treasurer, and fundraising
  • Your pack's annual program budget, and working with your cubmasters and den leaders to plan the unit's program prior to fall
  • How to recruit committee members
  • Where to find resources to help keep your pack organized, active, and involved with district and council events
  • Registration, Rechartering and Journey To Excellence
  • Adult leader award recognition (how to get those knots you see everyone wearing)
