NRA Range Safety Officer & BSA Rangemaster Training (Camp Rotary)

Event Details

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

The 9-hour RSO course includes content consisting of: RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency. RSO's who have successfully completed the course then have the ability to become a Chief Range Safety Officer, someone essential to training and supervising NRA Range Safety Officers and developing range standard operating procedures.

Participants will also have the opportunity to complete an additional 3-hours of training to become certified as Cub Scout BB Gun and Archery Rangemasters.

Choose from 1 of 3 trainings:

  • NRA Range Safety Officer AND BSA Rangemaster Training (Saturday & Sunday)
  • NRA Range Safety Officer Training (Saturday ONLY)
  • BSA Rangemaster Training (Sunday ONLY)

Cost includes:

  • Course Materials
  • Patch (RSO Trainings ONLY)
  • Lodging (provided as part of the fee for the full course, add on available for partial courses)
  • Meals

Sign-up is limited to the first 16 people for NRA trainings - up to 25 people for Rangemaster Training.  Must be at least 21 to attend.  Must bring a BSA Health Form, parts A & B.

NO PERSONAL FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION ARE PERMITTED TO BE BROUGHT TO THIS COURSE!

* This course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer, who conducts NRA competitive shooting events as defined by Rule 11.5 of the NRA Rule Books.
