This year is going to be a little different. We are going to a Virtual Salute so, come join hundreds of youth and adults for our dusk to dawn Virtual Salute. Your unit can sign up in ½ hour increments.

We will need individuals and groups to fill time slots from 7:15 am until 8:00 pm. Please make your plans to support this great event! We hope you can sign-up.

The event will be Live Streamed on the Gerald R Ford Presidential Museum’s Facebook page all day, as well as the Michigan Crossroads Council Facebook Page. There will be several live components throughout the day, such as the ringing of the bells along with some afternoon and evening speakers.  A detailed schedule of the day will be posted and shared in the coming weeks. In order to uphold the tradition of saluting from sunrise to sunset we are asking for submissions of videos and pictures saluting the flag to share throughout the day.  There are two ways to submit those videos and pictures:

1. Submissions can be shared directly through Facebook in the Discussion portion of the event. Share in the comments/discussion section found at: https://www.facebook.com/events/537125790275390/?active_tab=discussion
2. Submissions can be emailed to 911scoutsalute@gmail.com.  Please submit as an attachment directly to the email and not by sharing a link.

Please try to have your images and videos submitted before your assigned time so that they can be live streamed during your time frame.  We will try and share as close to your signed up time as possible. 

Note: Please submit pictures with the file type .jpeg or .png and videos with file type .mp4 and .mov

Members of the Boy Scouts of America should consult their Scout handbooks for instructions on how to salute the flag.  Community members may salute with their hand over their hearts or, if you are a veteran or active military, you may salute the flag at your brow if desired.  All outside groups please look to your organization leadership as to how to salute the flag for these images.
