A Rifle Shooting Merit Badge Class will be held at the Chief Okemos Sportsman's Club in Dimondale, MI Saturday, May 12, 2018.

The cost is $10 per Boy Scout by midnight May 4 and $15 starting May 5  Deadline to register is May 10 or earlier if the capacity of 18 participants has been reached.

Scouts will work on the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge.  Completion is possible if Scouts bring completed prerequisites and shoot the necessary scores required. It is recommended that Scouts practice shooting beforehand.   Prerequisites are listed below.  

Scouts need to show up with a properly filled out merit badge blue card that shows they have completed requirements  A through K.  (signed off on the card) We will complete requirements L and M which are the zeroing and actual fire for record portion of the merit badge. We will go over safety, range commands, how to sight in, and other requirements that are found in the merit badge book.

Capacity is 18 participants.

• Check in 8:30am-9:00am
• Safety is 9:00am-9:30am
• Shooting and other requirements 9:30- noon

Scouts can work on and earn Shotgun Shooting Merit Badge.

Scouts and their parents need to go to the following website and sign up for the Jr youth shotgun course. It is free and they receive an NRA Diploma along with a rating. https://chiefokemos.org/jr-and-ladies-trap-shooting/  They will need to contact Bill Ames (Bill Ames at 517-282-8085 or ames.william001@gmail.com) with all of their information after they sign up at the club website. We will be available on the day of the shoot to sign off on their requirements. This is the full class so they only need to show up with a blue card that was given to them by their Scoutmaster. The course teaches all of the requirements.
