Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation - Camp Teetonkah

Event Details

You want me to do WHAT?
Take the Pack into the woods overnight?!

Check in begins 6 pm on Friday Night

Training will end after dinner on Saturday.

Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program. This training provides leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to run a program well and help their Scouts succeed. The skills taught are based on the outdoor skills found in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout Handbooks. Please be prepared for any type of weather as you will be outdoors much of the time.

BALOO training is now comprised of two components - an online component, and a practical, hands-on, overnight component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a "Trained" Cub Scout outdoor leader, and to receive the BALOO recognition patch.

The online component contains introductory and basic information, and must be completed prior to the practical component. The online portion of BALOO is available on the BSA Learning Center by logging into My.Scouting.org. Go to the Course Catalog to add it to your Learning Plan.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is required for Cub Scout Leaders who are interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. Packs must have at least one BALOO trained adult on every Webelos Den overnighter or Pack overnight outdoor events including Pack Camping.

Cost: $20, includes lunch, dinner and crackerbarrel on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

Bring: Paper, pen, water bottle or mug for course time.  Suggested personal gear for the overnighter will be emailed to you or you can download it.
