  • Coil and throw a rope 15-20 feet.
  • Build a fire and light it with a “strike anywhere” match

  • Exchange one gallon of sealed drinking water per 10 registrants for your Pack registration packet
  • Bring natural, untreated wood and tree products (pine needles, leaves, etc.) for the Arctic Survival activity. NO paper, accelerants, treated wood or fire starters allowed! Prepare for one fire per 10 Cubs.

Activities:

Arctic Survival – Each team will build a fire 12” high to burn a string suspended 18” above the ground (or snow).  Pack leaders will bring natural, untreated wood and natural untreated tree products such as pine needles, leaves, etc. (No paper, wood treated with an accelerant, or fire starters are allowed).  Each team will receive two matches and a striker.

Ice Floe Rescue - Team members will tie rope lengths together with square knots.  The rope will then be coiled and thrown to a stranded team member 15-20 feet away.  The stranded cub scout will tie a bowline around his waist and will be pulled to safety.

Harpoon Hurl – Teams will try their skills at tossing a “harpoon” at a target for points & to build hand-eye coordination.

Snowshoe Shuffle - Team members will speed through a relay race with “snowshoes” with or without snow. The real challenge is to walk in a straight line & keep your “shoes” on.

Injured Skier Lift - This is a real test of teamwork as cub scouts rescue an “injured” skier with a make-shift stretcher made up from a blanket and 2 x 2 poles.
