Eastern Michigan University Merit Badge Day 2023 Huron Trails

Event Details

Welcome to Merit Badge Day at Eastern Michigan University. Scouts may earn up to two merit badges provided they have completed the pre-work requirements.

There is a Cost for Parking the day of the even (around $5 dollars) and scouts will need to bring a sack lunch or make arrangements for their meal.

Check-In - 8:00 - 8:45 am
Opening Ceremony - 8:45 - 8:55 am
AM Session - 9:00 - 11:45 am
Lunch - 11:50 am - 12:50 pm
PM Session - 1:00 - 4:00 pm

NEW for adult Scouters and Ventures 18+! Have you ever wanted to be a merit badge counselor? Every Scout deserves a trained leader and during the morning session merit badge counselor training will be offered at no cost.

Pre-work: Scouts participating should read the merit badge pamphlet prior to merit badge day to become familiar with the content. Specific pre-work is listed below.

American Business - 5, 6 a or 6b

American Heritage - 1, 3a, 3c, and watch 2 movies

Auto Mechanics - 2a, (2) choices from 11

Basketry - 3c  Bring a completed camp stool or camp stool kit

Citizenship in the Nation - 5,7

Citizenship in the World - 7

Cooking - Scouts will leave with a partial. Should complete requirement 4 and 7 prior to workshop.

Disabilities Awareness - 2, 4 a or b, 7

Entrepreneurship - 1-4

First Aid - Be a first class scout, 5, 14

Geology - 4b Minerals Resource Option

Golf - Scouts will leave with a partial/play golf round after. Bring any equipment available.

Public Speaking - Have speeches prepared!

Radio - 2a, 3, Research 6 and 8, bring paper/pen

Reading - 1a, 2a, 3 a b or c, read necessary books

Scholarship - 1, 3, 5

Scouting Heritage - 2a, 2b, one of the options for requirement 4 (4b), 5-8
