Join the ultimate Scouting adventure of exploring the beautiful backcountry of the Boy Scouts of America’s High Adventures base, Philmont. This premier adventure will have Scouts and Scouters trekking the bases 214 square miles of New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo mountains wilderness. Scouts will have the opportunity to take part in numerous adventures at the camps that they will be spending the night. There are 8 youth and 4 adult slots available for this 10 day expedition.


Scouts will leave Grand Rapids on June 13 taking the Amtrak to Chicago where they will explore downtown Chicago and the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower). They will then depart later that afternoon on the Southwest Chief bound for Raton, NM where they will arrive on June 14 at Philmont. Scouts will then embark on their backcountry experience on June 14. Scouts will get off trail on June 26 and be back in Grand Rapids on June 27. The price includes a shirt, access to the Willis Tower, train ticket, bussing, and all trail food. Food while traveling to and from Philmont will be taken care of by each participant on their own. 

This contingent will be hosted by Troop 7. Please email Greg Law if you are not a member of 7 and would like to attend.
