Reptile and Amphibian Study Merit Badge at the South Shore YMCA Nature Center Program Description:
Join Merit Badge Counselors at the South Shore YMCA Nature Center for an exciting opportunity to earn your Reptile and Amphibian Study Merit Badge!
This program is designed to help you understand multiple aspects of reptiles and amphibians including habitat, identification, and their importance in our natural environment.
We’ll learn the basics of caring for reptiles and amphibians, and what it means to be a scientist studying these animals.
Come ready to learn and have fun as we enjoy and learn all about these special animals!
Check-in will begin at 10:00am with the badge session starting at 10:15am.
Requirements to complete before you come:
Requirement 1. Describe the identifying characteristics of six species of reptiles and four species of amphibians found in the United States. For any four of these, make sketches from your own observations or take photographs. Show markings, color patterns, or other characteristics that are important in the identification of each of the four species. Discuss the habits and habitats of all 10 species.
