Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS)

Hands-on training for Scouts BSA and Venturing leaders on outdoor skills such as cooking, knots and lashings, map and compass, woods tools, and more. This day-and-a-half course includes a night of camping.

Completing this hands-on overnight training course will help you:

Learn new skills.
Reinforce skills you might already know—and make sure you’re using the latest BSA-approved methods.
Build confidence to teach these skills and to take your Scouts camping!

For Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters, this course is part of the requirements to wear the “Trained” patch and be considered “trained” for your position. It’s also part of the requirements for adult leaders of a Venturing Crew that runs an outdoor program.

All participants must register by the weekend before the course.

Participants should be  18 years old or over
