Climbing Merit Badge at the MetroWest YMCA Outdoor Center

Are you ready to challenge yourself, build confidence, and master the vertical world? Join Mayflower Council for an action-packed Climbing Merit Badge Class at the premier Metrowest YMCA Family Outdoor Center in Hopkinton!
Whether you're a seasoned scrambler or a first-time climber, this intensive two-hour session will get you off the ground and onto the wall. Under the guidance of certified instructors and Merit Badge Counselors, Scouts will dive into the essential skills of rock climbing and rappelling in a safe, supportive, and high-energy environment.

Location: Metrowest YMCA Family Outdoor Center (45 East St, Hopkinton, MA)
Goal: Work toward the Climbing Merit Badge requirements.
What You’ll Learn & Do:
Safety First: Master the "CHECK" system and understand the verbal signals that keep every climber safe.
Knots & Gear: Learn to tie the essential knots—from the Figure Eight Follow-Through to the Double Fisherman’s—and get hands-on experience with harnesses, helmets, and hardware.
Belaying & Rappelling: Experience the thrill of the descent and learn the critical responsibility of being a belayer for your fellow Scouts.
The Ascent: Tackle three different climbing routes to demonstrate your technique and agility.
