Reach New Heights This Summer: Climbing Merit Badge Class!

Looking to add some high-altitude adventure to your summer? Join Mayflower Council for an action-packed Climbing Merit Badge Class at the premier Metrowest YMCA Family Outdoor Center in Hopkinton!

This session gives Scouts the opportunity to get hands-on with the gear, master their knots, and tackle the climbing wall and rappel tower. Under the guidance of certified instructors and Merit Badge Counselors, Scouts will dive into the essential skills of rock climbing in a safe, supportive, and high-energy environment.

Event Details:

Date: Sunday, August 9th

Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Location: Metrowest YMCA Family Outdoor Center (45 East St, Hopkinton, MA)

Goal: Work toward the Climbing Merit Badge requirements.

What We’ll Cover:

Safety & First Aid: Master the verbal signals, the "CHECK" system, and environmental safety.

Knots & Gear: Learn to tie and apply essential climbing knots (Figure Eight, Bowline, Clove Hitch, etc.) and inspect harnesses, helmets, and hardware.

Belaying & Rappelling: Learn the critical responsibility of backing up your fellow Scouts and experience the thrill of the descent.

The Ascent: Scale the wall to practice climbing technique, movement, and agility.

Be Prepared:

Dress for summer outdoor activity! Scouts should wear comfortable, athletic clothing (no loose items or jewelry), sturdy sneakers, and bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Please bring a  a copy of the Climbing Merit Badge workbook.
