The Adventure Awaits
Our Chuckwagon Farm Adventure isn't just a day out—it’s an experiential journey designed to build the confidence, resilience, and teamwork skills that define a Scout. Do Your Best!
What Your Scout Will Experience (A Taste of What to Expect):
We believe in Learning by Doing. Throughout the day, Scouts will rotate through hands-on stations that blend farm-life heritage with classic outdoor skills:
Pioneer Engineering: Work together to fix broken wagons and build sturdy fences. Scouts learn the basics of structural problem-solving, knots, and manual dexterity.
The Living Earth: Plant personal crops to take home and care for, fostering a sense of responsibility and a deep connection to the environment.
Wildlife Stewardship: Construct birdhouses to support our local ecosystem, putting the Scout is Kind law into practical action.
Wilderness Games: Challenge the senses with high-energy activities like the Cow Flop Toss, Giant Jenga, and Plastic Horseshoe tournaments that prioritize sportsmanship and Cub Scout Spirit.
When the Wheels Fall Off: In this Pioneer Engineering challenge, Scouts must work together to repair a grounded chuckwagon. They'll use basic knots and teamwork to secure the axle and get the wagon back on the trail.
Plant Your Crops: Every Scout will get hands-on with the soil! You'll plant your own crops to take home, learning the responsibility of nurturing a living thing from seed to harvest.
Crops Need Water (Intro to Irrigation): Scouts will solve a "water crisis" by building a primitive irrigation system. Learn how farmers move water from point A to point B using gravity and teamwork to keep the fields green.
Don’t Lose Your Sheep: Put your fencing skills to the test! Scouts will collaborate to build sturdy, secure enclosures to "protect" the farm’s sheep, learning about structural integrity and spatial problem-solving.
Important Gear List
Fuel for the Trail: Please pack a nutritious lunch and a reusable water bottle.
Protection: Sunblock and bug spray are essential "Six Essentials" for the day.
Spirit: Show your Scout pride! Wear your Cub Scout Class B (t-shirt) or come dressed in themed farmer outfits (overalls, flannel, and boots).
Wagon Decorating: Don't forget to decorate your wagon for the event! Let's see that creativity on the farm trail.
Gather your pack, bring your Scout spirit, and get ready for a day of laughter, teamwork, and authentic farmyard fun!
