Do you want to speak with confidence, command the room, and master the art of captivating an audience? Whether you are preparing to lead a troop meeting, give a school presentation, or run for student council, strong communication skills are your superpower!
Join us for an interactive, hands-on Public Speaking Merit Badge Class designed to help Scouts conquer stage fright and build lifelong presentation skills in a fun, supportive environment.
Event Details
When: September 15th AND September 22nd
Time: 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Where: Milford Public Library (Note: Attendance at both sessions is mandatory, and all requirement work must be completed to earn the merit badge signed off.)
What Scouts Will Learn & Do
Over the course of two action-packed evenings, Scouts will complete key requirements, including:
Self-Introductions: Deliver a crisp 3-to-5 minute introduction to the group.
Visual Aids & Body Language: Present a 3-to-5 minute talk using engaging body language and visual props.
Impromptu Speaking: Practice thinking on your feet with exciting, surprise 2-minute speech topics.
Speeches & Outlines: Draft, practice, and deliver an in-depth 8-to-10 minute speech on a topic you love.
Parliamentary Procedure: Master basic rules of order and learn how to lead discussions effectively.
Preparation & What to Bring
To make the most of our time together, Scouts should come prepared to speak, participate, and share their ideas!
