Event FAQ for Scouts BSA Units

Thank you for taking the step to provide a great programming experience for Webelos Dens!  As a Scouts BSA registrant, your unit will help provide in-site programming to a Webelos Den throughout the weekend.

1.  What are the responsibilities of a Scouts BSA unit participating in Webelos Woods?

Scouts BSA Troops will provide the leadership of a Webelos Den (Patrol during the event).  Scouts BSA members, youth and adult will help in facilitating activities that will be provided by the organizing committee, as well provide a weekend camp experience for participating Webelos and their leaders/ parents.

2.  What is provided for Scouts BSA units participating in Webelos Woods?

Scouts BSA units will be provided with a program plan for in-site activities, basic program supplies for in-site activities, and commissary supplies for meals.

3.  What is my Scouts BSA unit expected to provide by participating in Webelos Woods?

Scouts BSA units should provide tents (for members and Webelos participants), basic cooking gear (e.g. pots, pans, washing equipment etc.), and a dining fly/ rain tarp.  A list of recommended items can be found in the attachments listed on this registration site.

4.  How many Scouts BSA members can my unit bring to the event?

The organizing subcommittee is recommending that units bring no more than 5 Scouts BSA members and adult leaders.  The event sites are limited to 25 participants, so the remaining site occupancy will be reserved for Webelos and their parents/ leaders.

5.  How can my Scouts BSA unit select which Webelos Den to be partnered with during the event?

The registrant contact will have the opportunity to list a preferred Webelos Den/ Pack to match with during the registration process.  All attempts will be made to facilitate requests, but there is no guarantee that every request will be able to be fulfilled.

Thank you for taking the step to learn more about the Scouts BSA program by experiencing Webelos Woods!  As a Webelos registrant, you will form a provisional Patrol during the event, and participate alongside Scouts BSA members.

1.  What is my Webelos Den expected to provide by participating in Webelos Woods?

Webelos registrants should plan on brining the personal equipment necessary for a weekend campout (e.g. sleeping bag, toiletries, change of clothes etc.).  Scouts BSA units will help in providing cooking equipment and shelter during the event.  Check out the packing list in the event attachments on this site for more information.

2.  How many Webelos and adult leaders/ parents can my unit bring to the event?

Event FAQ COVID-19

1.  Are there restrictions on who can attend the Webelos Woods?

We are asking those participants with serious underlying medical conditions as outlined by the CDC to not attend camp for their own safety. Those who are in this group need to have a conversation with their medical provider when considering attending Webelos Woods.

2.  What are the expectations for travel to and from the Webelos Woods events?

We encourage people to travel to and from the Webelos Woods as families or household groups.  However, the final decision on travel arrangements will be at the discretion of each parent.

3.  What social distancing measures will be in place at the Webelos Woods?

We fully anticipate social distancing will be a part of our Webelos Woods.  Program will be offered in-campsite, with limited interaction between units.  We are encouraging participants to adhere to best practices, including maintaining six feet of distance when possible.  Masks should be worn when it is likely that participants will be within 6 feet, and when inside structures.

4.  What will health and sanitation look like at the Webelos Woods?

Expect more frequent required handwashing, greater access to handwashing supplies and hand sanitizer.

5.  Will we be required to wear masks while participating in the Webelos Woods?

Based on guidance participants will be required to wear masks when social distancing cannot be maintained.

6.  What if a participant shows symptoms of COVID-19 after attending a Fall Camporee event?

Our expectation is that any participant who exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 would promptly contact their physician for evaluation.  If a test is administered and the results are positive for COVID-19, a public health official will contact the individual. Please discuss the individual’s involvement in a Scouting activity with them and provide Northern Star’s contact information (Kris Burbank: 612-261-2450 or kburbank@northernstar.org).  Public health will reach out to us directly.

If the symptoms occur greater than 14 days after conclusion of the activity the risk of COVID related to the activity or transmission to others present at the activity would be extremely low.

7.  How will programming occur at the Webelos Woods events?

All programming will be conducted in campsite during the event (with the exception of some destination activities such as shooting sports), with units remaining distant from other participants. Units will be provided with program resources and material in order to enjoy an outdoor program experience, including instructors.  Units will not connect with participants outside of their cohort during the event (e.g. no large-group campfires).

8.  Are Health Forms and Pre-Screening Forms required for participants on-site for less than 72 hours?

Yes, all participants remaining on-site will require a Pre-Screening Form and Health Form to be submitted.
