Scoutmaster Specific and Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills

Scoutmaster/ Assistant Scoutmaster Specific and IOLS Training - IN JUST ONE WEEKEND!!!
Where: Phillippo Scout Camp - Gwin Center: 30654 32nd Ave Way, Cannon Falls, MN 55009
When: Arrive eary Saturday morning, Dec 12th (7AM) and leave at noon Sunday, Dec 13th
What: This Northern Star Scouting IOLS course fulfills the requirements for both Scoutmaster Specific Training: Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster (S24) and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (S11). Upon completion of the combined course, you will be Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position Trained.
How: Experience living in a Patrol, led by your Senior Patrol Leader and mentored by your Troop Guide, with fast-paced activities and ceremonies that replicate real Scout life. You’ll gain abundant resources to assist your own youth leaders in preparing their outdoor adventures for memorable, meaningful success while fulfilling the aims and methods of Scouting. Eight exciting hands-on round-robin stations allow you to learn from experienced instructors how to use the EDGE method and games with a purpose to put the fun back in fundamental Scouting skills from Scout to First Class ranks. Your Scoutmaster will train you in the wise ways of starting with an annual plan rich in advancement and outdoor programming, making the most of your committee members and trained leaders, and the amazing things your youth can achieve when Scout meetings are intentionally crafted to be the best hours of their week. Meals are included, prepped by talented Quartermaster staff, who also provide safe cooking tips so you can finish the delicious lessons with your Patrol. Special guests bring in information you won’t find in other training.
- Complete/update your “Safeguarding Youth Training” (Y01)
- Complete/update your “Hazardous Weather Training” (SCO-800)
- Check your registration email beginning November 28th (2 weeks pre-course) for very important information from your IOLS leadership.
- Bring your current Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A/B1/B2
Supplies: Participants will be required to stay overnight as part of the training. Winter course participants camp in cabins using the patrol method. Patrols will plan and share required patrol cooking equipment. Every effort will be made to help patrol members connect with each other prior to the event. Food is provided for the weekend. Please let us know of any dietary, medical or religious accommodations. This is a UNIFORM event. All participants are strongly encouraged to wear the full Scout BSA uniform for the weekend. Cost: $45 per participant registered before November 20th, after $55 per participant. The cost covers; materials, facility fees, and meals for the weekend.
