Afton Alps Snow Sports Merit Badge Days 2025
Northern Star Scouting is excited to partner with Afton Alps to offer two Snow Sports Merit Badge Days! Scouts who attend will be able to complete most if not all of the requirements for either the Snowboarding or Downhill Skiing requirements of the Merit Badge. Scouts do not need to sign up for both sessions to complete the badge.

There are several registration options:
- Scout Participant
- Adult Participant- this is for Adults who want to participate at the event.
- Adult Chaperone- this is a no-fee registrant who will be attending with their unit at the event, but not skiing or snowboarding.
All registrations include a lift ticket and a mandatory lesson. Participating in the lesson will satisfy many of the requirements for the Merit Badge.
All participants must complete the Afton Alps Participant Waiver.
Schedule
9:00 AM: Arrival, equipment rental, program introduction
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Group lessons to work on practical skills and skill-demonstration
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Lunch
1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Presentation put on by the Ski Patrol
3:00 PM: Completion of program. Scouts are welcome to stay and continue to ski/snowboard
Additional Information
Participating Scouts should dress accordingly with any appropriate winter gear for the day.
As a Scouting activity, all participants are required to fill out Part A and B of the Annual Health and Medical Record.
Each youth needs to bring a merit badge card and it is recommended to have a copy of the Snow Sports Merit Badge workbook
All Scouts taking the Merit Badge are strongly encouraged to read the Snow Sports Merit Badge book prior to the event.
Lunch will not be provided at the event. Scouts attending should bring their own lunch, or plan to purchase food at the event site.
Scouts attending without a unit should have an adult chaperon on-site. Units participating in the event should provide adult supervision in line with Youth Protection guidelines.
