RSO - Range Safety Officer Training (NRA)

Northern Star Council is offering this course at the Northern Star Council's Golden Valley Location (5300 Glenwood Avenue, Golden Valley, Minnesota).

This one day training is for BSA adult volunteers to become NRA certified Range Safety Officers (RSO's).  This will enable you to volunteer to help staff and operate BSA Shooting Sports ranges.

There are two ways to become a RSO. You can take an on line course from the NRA if you are currently an NRA Certified Firearm Instructor or you can take a course, such as this course, conducted by a Chief RSO - an individual certified to train NRA Range Safety Officers.  The RSO course content consists of RSO's roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency.

This class room setting course if approximately 8 hours.  The class will start promptly at 8:00 am (doors open 7:45 am) and wrap up by 4:00 p.m.   The capacity for the class is 25 participants and will cost $30.

No ammunition is allowed in class.  CCW permit holders will be required to secure their firearms outside of class.

Snacks will be provided, however you are to provide your own lunch (refrigeration and microwave available).
