2024 Fort Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Day Flag Placement
Scout and Community Registration
Participants:
This no cost service event will begin at 3:00PM on Saturday May 25, 2024 and is open to all (Cub Scouts, Scouts, Venturers, and the general public). The service event consists of placing American flags in front of 16,000 memorial stones in two sections at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Registration Process:
Register by individuals or by group. Use one of the registration buttons on the right to register. Enter in the number of people coming within each category and then provide your contact information (contact Information necessary to provide pre-arrival information via email).
Annual Health and Medical Records are required for all Scouting participants. Participating units should ensure that members have parts A and B of the Annual Health and Medical Record. Forms will be retained by participants or units, but will be checked on-site.
For Order of the Arrow Members: To complete your registration you will need your BSA ID number (this is taking place of the OA ID numbering system). If you do not know your number, click here to use an online look-up feature.
Where:
Fort Snelling National Cemetery is adjacent to the Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Airport at 7601 34th Avenue South Minneapolis, MN 55450. Flags for Ft. Snelling is the lead organization facilitating the project, and has assigned our organization to two specific sections of the cemetery. Upon arrival, please proceed to the location marked on the map for check-in.
How:
In order to provide updates to participants ahead of the event, as well as assist in designating arrival gates, we are asking that all participants pre-register for the event. Once arriving on-site, you will receive your assigned working area for the event - please stay at your assigned area until the area is certified as complete. As the event progresses you may be reassigned to a further section assignment.
Good to Know:
- Weather: Always plan for the weather! Bring rain gear, sun protection, or jackets as-needed.
- Walk-ins: Due to the limited scale of the project, pre-registration is required.
- Map: An updated event map has been added as an attachment to this site.
- Scouting volunteers/ Scouts are encouraged to wear field ("class A") uniforms during the event.
