Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available.
Cost: $180 includes CPR
**Food will not be provided, so participants must bring their own lunch both days.**
**Maximum Course Size is 20 participants**
Agenda Day 1
Introduction to Wilderness Medicine
Body substance Isolation and disease transportation
Patient assessment (primary and secondary survey)
Patient moving and lifting
Musculoskeletal injuries: sprains, strains and fractures
Shock
Head injury
Agenda Day 2
Environmental emergencies: hot and cold injuries, lightning, drowning,bites and stings
Soft tissue injury management
Stop the Bleed
Medical emergencies: anaphylaxis, diabetes, chest pain, asthma
Your first aid kit, emergency preparations (top ten things)
