What is it? This annual scouting event is held on the 3rd weekend of October and uses communication technology to connect Scouts from around the world. Be a part of the world’s largest amateur radio scouting event that promotes friendship and global citizenship. Attending this event will satisfy requirement 7E of the Citizenship in The World Merit Badge. Activities include learning and using amateur radios (ham radios), lashing together a radio antenna tower, meet members from local amateur radio clubs, learn about how to become a license amateur radio operator, see demonstration of technology, and more. Enjoy a great weekend of camping. Scouts BSA can sign up for Radio Merit Badge. The MB class will be a round robin. When not in merit badge class scouts should get on the radios and make contact around the world.
Where? South Central Kansas Medical Center. 6401 Patterson Pkwy Arkansas City, Kansas 67005
Supervision? All units must have two deep leadership in accordance with Youth Protection guidelines. Adults must have current Youth Protection Training.
Cost? Youth - $10 / Adults - Free. Walk ins welcome - Cash or pay online, day of the event.
Last day to register – October 15, 2022.
Camping? There is camping for the event, however Cub Scouts are not permitted to spend the night. Scout BSA units and AOLS are permitted to camp but need to ensure that they are following BALOO and IOLS training and guidelines.
Refunds? Refunds are not available, but fees are transferable to another Scout or Adult. This is a rain or shine event.
Registration? Registration via Black Pug at www.Quivira.org
Tag Along(s)? No siblings or tag-along(s) are allowed during this event, everyone must be a registered Scout or Adult Leader.
Insurance? Liability, as well as Sickness and Accident Insurance are provided for all registered members of the Quivira Council.
Check -In: Will start at 10am. When you enter camp, the Unit Leader will be asked to provide: Copy of Unit Roster listing each attendee, BSA Health Form with Parts A & B for each person attending, copies of current Youth Protection Training for each Adult attending.
Process: AOLS and Scouts BSA Units who elect to camp will be responsible for their own lunches and Sunday breakfast. Dinner will be provided at the event. ALL units will need to be cleaned up and off property by 10am on Sunday. Please follow Leave No Trace Guidelines. No Fires and trailers will not be allowed to leave the parking area.
