Certified Angler Instructor Training
Certified Angling Instructor Weekend
March 24th – 25th, 2023 @ Quivira Scout Ranch
Training will begin at 7:00pm, March 24th, 2023
This is a BSA National certification for registered adult leaders to instruct and promote the Fishing Program through BSA activities. Participants will learn how to conduct fishing education classes at the Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, and Venturing levels as well as how to conduct fishing events for BSA events and recruiting/civic activities. Participants will complete their training and then participate in delivering what was learned through hands-on application, by working as a group to conduct a fishing merit badge course on Saturday for Scouts.
Fishing is an important event that promotes the values of Scouting, while being an engaging sport that ALL Scouts, young and old, can be involved in. Fishing is often an overlooked resource for recruiting and engaging youth in a community. Properly trained Adults can help maximize a unit’s activities through providing EXCELLENT events that help with retention and improve the quality of unit events.
These concepts are provided by our training team through presentations, games, discussions, activities, and hands-on methods. Be advised, we will have a lot of fun, and eat well! Those that complete the course will also have met the requirement of Certified Angling Instructors for the State of Kansas as well. There will be some on-line sessions needed to be complete prior to this weekend.
Each person must bring your own camping gear, and a current A&B Health Form. All meals will be provided. Please provide any dietary restrictions when registering and send in a completed Special Needs Request form.
