Wood Badge Training Fall 2023

Reflecting the best of nearly a century of Scouting experience, Wood Badge draws upon the most current leadership models used by corporate America, academic circles and successful organizations throughout the country.

Wood Badge training was begun by Baden Powell in 1919 as a way to insure that the leaders of Scouts troops were properly trained. Since then Wood Badge has been held worldwide, providing advanced leadership training to thousands of Scout leaders.

Wood Badge builds upon the best traditions of the Boy Scouts of America and also draws from a wide range of courses within and beyond the bounds of Scouting to present the latest in leadership theory.

This training course consists of a participant pre-meeting and two weekend sessions:
Orientation Meeting: Saturday, August 19, 2023 8:00-10:00 a.m. at Camp C.S. Klaus OR 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Camp Ingawanis
1st Weekend: Friday, September 15, 2023 at 7:30 a.m. - Sunday, September 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Camp C.S. Klaus
2nd Weekend: Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 7:00 a.m. - Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Camp Ingawanis
 
More information can be found in the pamphlet linked on your right, but here is a summary of some key details:
  • Location:  The first weekend of Wood Badge is being hosted by the Northeast Iowa Council at Camp C.S. Klaus just outside of Colesburg, Iowa. The second weekend is being hosted by the Winnebago Council at Camp Ingawanis in Waverly, Iowa.
  • Cost:  $50 Non-refundable deposit to hold your spot  (limited to 48 participants)
    Early Bird Course Fee: $250 total (when paid in full by August 1, 2023)
    Course Fee: $275 
    Scholarships are available. A scholarship request form is also linked on your right.
  • Registration Deadline: August 1st (if registering after August 1, please contact the course director to verify if there is a spot available as the course is filling up.
  • Medical Examination:  Wood Badge is considered a high adventure activity and therefore requires A, B & C of the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record. This includes examination by a medical professional within one year prior to the course start date.
