Conservation Careers Exploring Program

Event Details

Are you passionate about making a difference?

The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium is a team of conservationists dedicated to inspiring stewardship of our rivers and history.  If you love animals (including people), if you are passionate about making a difference as a community advocate and saving species from extinction, then working at a Zoo or Aquarium or any other number of conservation organizations could be for you

Join us to meet and learn from the diverse crew of professionals working to inspire stewardship at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.

Meeting Information:
Time: 3:30-5:00 p.m.
Location: National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium west box office (near large red paddle wheel)
Registration Fee: $50.00 (made payable to Northeast Iowa Council)
Dates:

October 7: Students will be provided an overview of what the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is.  We will get to know each other and get a feel for what you, the students interests are and go on a  campus tour of the River Museum.
October 14: How is the River Museum working to save animals from extinction?
October 21: Our animals are our mission and receive the best care possible.  Meet and learn more from our Aquarists about what it takes to care for the thousands of animal ambassadors who call the River Museum home.
October 28:  We will join the Dubuque County Conservation Board working to restore and enhance local wildlife habitats.
November 4: Interact via a zoom panel discussion with other members of the River Museum’s team - roles that may seem indirectly connected to wildlife conservation and oceanography but without their efforts none of our work as conservationists would be possible.

This is an excellent way to learn about careers in the conservation & wildlife fields while having a great time.  Remember, your future is the best reason to explore careers today!
