The 17th Annual Illowa Council First Aid Merit Badge Clinic hosted by the Council's Enterprise Risk Management Committee and held a the Genesis East Hospital - Genesis Heart Institute. The Public Health Merit Badge, which is only offered every third year, will also be part of this clinic.
If your Scout troop knows of girls between the ages of 11-18 that would like to participate, you may make reservations for them to attend. While girls of that age won't be able to officially register with the BSA until February 2019, they can learn the same life-saving first-aid skills that our Scouts do. Girls will experience the same requirements and written test that the boys must complete for this merit badge.
- There will be an opportunity for the First Aid Merit Badge students to see state of the art first aid and resuscitation equipment. The Instructors for this top notch clinic will be EMTs, nurses, and physicians. Scouts participating in this clinic should also bring their assembled home first aid kit. (Requirement 2D)
- We ask that Scouts taking Public Health Merit Badge bring a note from their Scoutmaster stating that they have completed the prerequisite Requirement 5 in order to receive a complete.
- Scouts should be at a Tenderfoot Rank or higher for the First Aid Merit Badge clinic. Scouts will take a written test at the end of the day that will determine their earning of the First Aid Merit Badge.
- The clinic will be from 9:00 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. Check-in is from 8:30 until 9:00 a.m.
- A pizza and soft-drink lunch will be provided to the participants. If you have special dietary needs, please provide your own lunch.
The clinics include the merit badge card, a patch and lunch. Registration is $10 per Scout. Registration fee will be $15 per Scout if registering after January 5, 2019. Deadline to register is Wednesday, January 9. SPACE IS LIMITED. If the clinics fill, no late registrations will be accepted.
