Twilight Camp 2026

Join us for the Dubuque Twilight Camp!
Dates: Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026
Times: 5:00pm-7:00pm, both days
Price: $45 if registered by Mar 11, $50 starting Mar 12. Price and registration includes both days
The Conservation Twilight Camp is a two-evening outdoor learning experience designed to help Scouts:
- Understand how soil and water support life and communities
- Learn how ecosystems function locally
- Participate in hands-on conservation service
- Connect with local conservation professionals
- Experience outdoor education in a fun, accessible after-school format
This program supports advancement, conservation awareness, and Scouting’s commitment to stewardship of the outdoors.
Day 1: Soil & Water Conservation
Thursday, March 19 | 5:00–7:00 PM
Location: Meeting at Rabbit Hollow’s Garage, Dubuque off of Southern Ave.
Partner: Dubuque County Soil & Water Conservation
Needs: Hiking gear, six essentials
Learning Focus
- Why healthy soil matters
- How water moves through the environment
- How erosion and pollution affect waterways
- How individuals can protect natural resources
Activities
- Conservation of soil (on Hike)
- Flora and Fauna
- Water & Erosion Station
- Rainfall and erosion demonstration trays
- How vegetation prevents runoff
- Simple watershed model
- Wastewater off the land
- Catfish Creek Water Monitoring Project
Conservation ProjectHands-on service project such as:
- Waterway clean up (Badge available)
Day 2: Water Systems & Ecosystems in Action **EARN Clean Water Cub Scouts!
Friday, March 20 | 5:00–7:00 PM
Location: City of Dubuque Wastewater Treatment Facility
Partner: City of Dubuque
Schedule 5-6pm Tour of Facility, 6-7pm Conservation Project to help clean up along waterway
Learning Focus
- Where water goes after it leaves our homes
- How wastewater is cleaned and returned safely to the environment
- The connection between human systems and natural ecosystems
- How pollution prevention protects rivers and wildlife
Program Highlights
City of Dubuque staff will guide Scouts through an age-appropriate exploration of the wastewater treatment process and its role in protecting local waterways and ecosystems.
Program components may include:
- Guided tour of the wastewater treatment facility
- Demonstration of the water cleaning process
- Discussion about protecting storm drains and rivers
- Interactive activity about water conservation and pollution prevention
- Scouts will learn how communities work together to keep water clean and how their everyday choices impact local ecosystems.
