Leave No Trace / Outdoor Ethics
Leave No Trace – Outdoor Ethics course
Join us at Mitigwa Scout Reservation Friday, Oct 28-30, 2022 to become a Leave No Trace Trainer for your unit. This course is for all Scouts (at least 14 years old) and leaders that want to provide and practice a quality Outdoor Ethics program. A unit that sends one or more Scouts MUST also send an adult leader or parent to the training. They will serve as a mentor in Leave No Trace and Outdoor Ethics to the Scouts not only at the training but also as the Scout works with their unit in practicing good stewardship of the outdoors.
Course participants should arrive at Camp Mitigwa, Bear Creek Lodge, between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm Friday, Oct 28, 2022 to set up tents. Plan your own supper before you arrive at camp. The course begins at 7:00 pm Friday and concludes by 11:00 am Sunday with graduation and certificate presentation. You must be present for all sessions to complete the course. We will be camping “Front Country” style Friday night and Backcountry (pristine area) style Saturday night. Be prepared to backpack a short distance. More information will be sent after registration. We will be following all Youth Protection Guidelines.
Every participant is required to do a 10-minute presentation about one of the Seven Leave No Trace principles.
Course materials, meals, and cracker-barrel are provided at no cost.
Pre-registration is required. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
