Woodland Trails Cubcicle

Event Details

Cub Scouts don’t get a lot of winter outdoor opportunities due to weather concerns and guidelines in the BSA.  That is why we get so excited about this annual event for our Cubs.  Weather Permitting—we give our Cubs a taste of winter scouting programs.

Scouts will have the chance to participate in the following stations and activities (weather permitting):

Archery, BB Guns & Sling Shots (all shooting sports programs will follow strict BSA guidelines and will be led by certified instructors only)

Winter Shelter Building.

Winter Craft/Pinecone Feeders.

Fire Building

Winter Hike/ Winter Nature study.

Snow Tug of War.

Foil Pack Cooking—this will start at 5 pm and gives the scouts a chance to work on their cooking skills alongside their parents and leaders. Must bring your own foil pack(s). See the attachment for ideas of foil pack meals.

Scout Shop -- If you would like to pre-order items please call the Scout Shop by February 7th to place your order.

Program notes and safety information:

All scout participants must wear boots!  No exceptions.  Winter clothing, hats, and gloves.  This is very important as our property is in the woods… with the snow and wet weather, it can be muddy, and it will be very cold.  BUNDLE UP

All scout participants will bring a foil pack of their own to cook outside. This includes parents as well you will want your own foil pack for dinner…  If you have never made a foil pack or would like some new ideas, you can use any online search for “boy scout foil meals” and you will find a ton of info and new ideas.

On site we have a heated lodge building called Strother Lodge that is available to warm up and take the chill off as needed.  This is also the location for at least 1 of our stations to ensure that the kids all are inside for at least some time to warm up.

Scouts can partake in as many stations as they would like with their parents.

If you would like to campout on Saturday night, please pre-register for it to let us know. Breakfast will be provided the next morning.

Check-in will start about 12:30 pm or so, but you may check-in at any time during the event schedule.

The Woodland Trails District Committee are excited that you are looking to attend this event.  We look forward to meeting you and your scout(s) on Saturday, February 10th at Foster Acres.
