OA Trail Crew 2023

Event Details

The Mitigwa Lodge is offering you an opportunity to join together with other Arrowmen in cheerful service and the formation of lasting brotherhood on the hills of beautiful Camp Mitigwa. Under the direction of the Mitigwa Lodge, youth members and two adults advisors with strong Order of the Arrow backgrounds, will be led through the week of trail crew. Each youth participant will earn $165 to be used toward their summer camp fees to attend Camp Mitigwa in 2023.

The program is a 5-day experience. There will be a project selected by the Mid-Iowa Council and the Mitigwa Lodge. We will need up to seven youth and two adults. The program is not necessarily trail work but the Trail Crew is ultimately a journey that will challenge scouts mentally, physically, and spiritually.

The experience is full of long, strenuous days requiring a great deal of physical effort. Participants are expected to work with great diligence. The project will last many years to come and benefit Camp Mitigwa and the surrounding areas. Trail Crew members will strengthen their leadership skills, observe and participate in group safety, good judgement, and motivation activities and receive Order of the Arrow instruction. The project mission is to maintian, reinforce and enhance the purpose of the Order of the Arrow by using scout camping traditions. Participants are expected to use their experience to benefit their scout unit, chapter, Lodge, and Council programs. Camping is a method of scouting that enhances and builds stronger programs and people.
