Camp Mitigwa – Frankel Ridge
The Prairie Winds District Klondike Derby will be held on Frankel Ridge
at Camp Mitigwa, located at 1820 Magnolia Rd, Woodward, IA
• Klondike Derby check-in at 8:00 AM - Dismissal 4:00 PM
• All participants will receive a patch and a hot lunch, plus a day of fun.
• Troops must register online at the Mid-Iowa Council website. Deadline Thursday, Feb. 2nd
• Be sure to invite your Pack’s Webelos den to participate as guests of your Troop’s Patrols.
• Sled wheels may not be allowed depending on snow conditions. Official decision will be made on day of event. Any wheels must be removable.
• Troops may tent camping Friday or Saturday. Cabins are held for Prairie Winds troops to reserve on a first come first serve arrangement.
• Scouts should be prepared by having completed the Toten-N-Chip training. Practice in splitting wood would be beneficial.
PATROLS WILL TAKE PART IN FOLLOWING STATIONS
• Knots & Lashing
• Fire Building
• Obstacle Course
• Team Building Activities
• Two-person sawing and log splitting
• Orienteering
This event is clearly a cold weather activity, so Scouts and leaders alike must arrive dressed to spend the entire day outside. Be Prepared! Remember, wear layers and stay dry!
Use of the Scout Handbook is encouraged and points will not be deducted for its use. Patrols can earn points for successfully completing the tasks of the station and for teamwork, leadership and attitude. Please help to make this an event to be proud of. The Scout Oath and Law should guide the behavior of everyone attending the event.

8:45 Welcome, Opening Ceremonies and Instructions
9:00 Travel to 1st Station
9:15 – 10:00 1st Station
10:00 – 10:45 2nd Station
10:45 – 11:30 3rd Station
11:30 Travel to Bear Creek Lodge for lunch shifts
11:45 – 12:15 ‘A’ Group Lunch – Bear Creek Lodge
‘B’ Group free time.
12:30 – 1:00 ‘B’ Group Lunch – Bear Creek Lodge
‘A’ Group free time.
1:00 Travel to 4th Station
1:15 – 2:00 4th Station
2:00 – 2:45 5th Station
2:45 – 3:30 6th Station
3:30 Travel to Bear Creek Lodge, pack up gear and sleds.
4:00 Awards and recognitions.
4:20 Closing Ceremony and depart for home.
