Registration is now open!

Merit Badge University (MBU) will be held at Iowa State University on Saturday, April 18, 2026.  MBU is sponsored by Iowa State University, Mid-Iowa Council and the Xi Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega.

Some additional information:

Registration includes lunch.

One adult (e.g., a troop leader) can accompany multiple scouts.

All adults who attend must register. 

There is no charge for adults.

Registered adults receive lunch for free.

Registered adults have the opportunity to volunteer to assist in supervising Scouts in the MB sessions if they are registered with Scouting America.  Additional adults in the MB sessions are always appreciated.

The list of merit badges (link given above) includes prerequisites that should be completed before coming to MBU.

Blue cards will be given out at the event and it is the responsibility of the youth to return these to their unit advancement chair to be recorded. The Mid-Iowa Council will not have records of merit badge registration or requirements met.
